This night is instantly one of my most memorable concert attendances. I still cannot believe how awesomely epic and wonderful the band was, especially to everyone that waited for them to show up for an impromptu meet-and-greet after the show was over. Seriously, thank you guys for being so incredibly awesome to your fans.
First, I’d like to share a little bit of the story of how I first heard of the band. It all started with a YouTube channel called CTFxC, a daily vlog channel by Charles Trippy and Alli Speed Trippy.
I remember watching their vlogs in a marathon-like fashion almost every day since stumbling upon the channel back in August 2009, some 3 months after they first started, until I finally caught up to their regular daily uploads.
The August 10, 2010 vlog is the vlog I remember best where Charles introduced Travis Clark and Danny Duncan from We The Kings, but what really led me to check out the band was when Charles shared a music video that he made for the band’s song “Skyway Avenue”. Their music has been in my iPod ever since.
Fast-forward to February 2011. My first We The Kings live experience.
I attended one of the shows they had at Market! Market! (Bonifacio Global City, Taguig) during their 4-day “tour” around Manila with fellow bands, The Maine, & Never Shout Never. I regret not seeing them on the other dates, but I am still glad I at least got to film Travis Clark do a live acoustic performance of their song “We’ll Be A Dream”.
Fast-forward again, this time to September 2011. Charles Trippy announces he is joining We The Kings as their new bassist!
Words cannot explain how happy I was to find out Charles was going to play bass for We The Kings and start touring with them after almost exactly a year since discovering the band through his YouTube channel.
Then suddenly March 2012, Travis Clark tweets this.
Mind = Blown.
So here we are today… One of my best nights ever with one of my favorite bands, and one of my favorite YouTubers.
Thank you, Charles and CTFxC. Thank you, We The Kings.
